Bon Bon Poetry Night

BonBon Poetry Night

Wednesday, July 21st 8:30-10:30pm

Stacy shared this quote – I think this captures the heart of our last poetry night…………….

“A human being is part of the whole called by us, universe, a part limited in time and space.
We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compafssion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self.
We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.”

Albert Einstein

Summary of the last poetry night (if you’re interested):

Luke opened with some thoughts on the gulf oil disaster -
which led to a discussion on the complexity of solutions, technology and wisdom.
Can the world around us really be improved if we’re driven by the same human/animal impulses?
Something in the inner being of a person needs to change if the world is to change.

Siul voiced – how can anything be shared, much less organized on a larger scale, if we can’t communicate with each other?
We lose each other in words, in intellectual posturing, in our own weirdness and insecurities….
but when we can speak from a place of understanding without our bullshit, where personal experience has been suffered, lived and accepted, there’s the possibility of real communication.
There’s something authentic and different in the vibration.

Speaking of authenticity and vibration:
SKB, Genevieve, Kerolyn, Garret shared their poetry and thoughts – all different, but powerful and intimate.

Ayisha kept us real. She brought the good book, reminding us that the only answer is in “higher love”.

And Arturo played a raga, an improvised classical Indian song, on his zither…. we were speechless. In his music, we saw Arturo.
What we heard was beyond entertainment, it was a divine connection.

Thank you to everyone who hung out that night.

Hope to see everyone else!

p.s.
Due to popular demand, Arturo’s bringing his zither again. Luke’s bringing his guitar and a special tuning fork. They’re going to tune their instruments to a certain key – notes and vibrations that are known to resonate with higher worlds. Let’s see what happens…..
